Braised Celery

How to

  • Preheat oven to 375°F

  • Gather Ingredients and Tools and prep Ingredients as indicated.

  • Remove any large Stalks with fibrous skin from the outside of the Celery Heads.

  • Place Celery in Glass Baking Dish, cut side up.

  • Add the rest of the Ingredients into the Baking Dish, cover with Foil, and place in the Oven for 30-45 Minutes (until fork tender).


  • Try adding any Herbs or Spices you prefer.

  • Add some other Vegetables into the Baking Dish to add flavor or to eat with the Celery.

  • If you don’t have Stock, substitute Water.

  • The root ball at the bottom of the Head can be firm so don’t test for doneness there. Instead test the stalks themselves.

  • Any leftovers can be blended into a simple Soup.


  • 2 Large Heads Celery, cut in half length wise

  • 4 Tbsp Butter

  • 3 Cloves Garlic, roughly chopped

  • 3 Cups Anything Stock

  • 1 Tbsp Salt

  • 4 Sprigs Thyme


  • Knife

  • Cutting Board

  • Glass Baking Dish

  • Foil

  • Measuring Spoons

  • Airtight Container


  • Airtight Container in the Refrigerator for 5 days.
